Pro Tips for Online Shopping

Am I the only one who has been doing more shopping than normal in this quarantine? Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping, but I honestly don’t do it very much for myself. I shop a lot for clients and that usually seems to satisfy my fix for a good shopping session. And I’m not one that shops just to shop too. I shop when I need something or want something that I think that enhance my wardrobe. I shop with purpose. Which I can talk more about but I’ll save that for another day. But since this quarantine, I have been using my extra time to shop for the things that I’ve had on my list for a while to get.

So what about you? Do you love online shopping or do you loathe it? Most people that I work with don’t really care for it and it’s mostly because it can be a hassle to return items that don’t work out for them and then have to reorder. I get it! It can be a bit of a pain to try on things, find out that they don’t fit, then have to package them up again and drop them at a store or the post office or a shipping station to have it shipped back. Then often you have to reorder the item and start the process all over again! So much time and energy wasted! So how do you even shop online successfully? Friend, you know I’m here to make your life easier so I got you! I’m about to share my pro tips for successfully shopping online!

First things first - Know your measurements. Knowing what your measurements are is going to be key in ensuring that the item you’re ordering will be the right fit. So how do you get your correct measurements? If you have a measuring tape, you can take your own. Measure your hips. bust, torso arms, waist, thighs, etc. Write down your measurements as you take them and keep them handy. If you can’t take your measurements yourself, have someone in your home help you or a tailor can do your measurements for you also, once you are able to see one.

Second - Check the size charts. This is why your measurements are so important. Going off the size chart when ordering is so helpful! Don’t go off of the letter of your size, go off your numbers and use those measurements to compare to the size chart so you can make a better decision about what size will work for you.

Third - Read reviews. People love to give their opinions, so reviews are like gold! And often times in a clothing review people will add their body type, their height, sometimes a weight range - all of these things can be so helpful in trying to figure out if an item will work for you.

Lastly - I would advise buying two of an item, especially if you’re on the fence about how it will fit. I’m sure you’ve heard before to, “think of your online shopping cart as your dressing room. You wouldn’t just take one size of something into a dressing room, right?” No, that’s why adding another size of what you’re uncertain about makes so much sense. Isn’t it worth spending a few more dollars to make sure that what you really want fits your body and makes you feel good?

Just keeping these few tips in mind will take the frustration and dread out of your online shopping experience and have you feeling like a pro in no time!
